![]() Cyrus [Chi McBride from Hoodlum, Gone in 60 Seconds and I Robot], Stuart [Jim Fyfe], and The Judge [John Astin from The Addams Family, Night Court, Duckman and Eerie, Indiana] who haunt people for him so he can charge them to get rid of their problem. Once he meets Lucy Lynskey [the amazing Trini Alvarado, I'm in love], everything goes crazy. The Grim Reaper is going for a high score in Fairwater and it's up to Frank to stop him before he gets Lucy. Also cool are Jeffrey Combs [from the Re-Animator movies, Star Trek: DS9, The Flash, ![]() Justice League Unlimited and Enterprise], Jake Busey [from Contact, Starship Troopers, Enemy of the State, Jeremiah and Fastlane], Troy Evans [from Lawnmower Man, Demolition Man, The Stand and ER], and R. Lee Ermey [from Full Metal Jacket, Fletch Lives, Seven, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake]. This is the greatest casting job I've ever seen on a movie, nobody else could play Frank Bannister as well. The Frighteners had the most cgi effects of any movie up until that time, and director Peter Jackson went on to make the very cool Lord of the Rings trilogy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Frighteners was planned as a "Tales from the Crypt" movie, but producer Robert Zemeckis liked the script so much, he decided it should stand on its own. Judge - "Give it up, Frank! Death ain't no way to make a living!" Judge - "That was the soul collector, and he's been takin' people out since time began. He's going about some dark business here in Fairwater, and we ain't nothin' but worm bait. When your number's up, that's it." |

![]() ever. It stars cool character actor William Sadler [from Disturbing Behavior, Rocketman, The Shawshank Redemption, The Outer Limits and Star Trek DS9] as Brayker, a mysterious man on the run. He's running from one of my favorite movie bad guys, The Collector [Billy Zane from Tombstone and one of Biff's cronies in the Back To The Future movies]. The Collector is so evil and funny he really steals the movie. It turns out Brayker is a Demon Knight, entrusted with a holy artifact that The Collector and his demons need to end the world. Brayker makes his stand at a motel that used to be a church. The rest of the cast is great too and includes Jada Pinkett, Brenda Bakke [from American Gothic], CCH Pounder [from Face Off, End Of Days and ER], Dick Miller ![]() [from Matinee, Night of the Creeps, Terminator and The Flash], Thomas Haden Church [from Tombstone and One Night Stand], John Schuck [from Babylon 5] and Charles Fleischer [the voice of Roger Rabbit]. The story is great, and so are the gory creatures and effects. Plus Demon Knight has one of the best soundtracks ever! I got the soundtrack before seeing the movie and listened it right to death. The Demon Knight version of Filter's Hey Man Nice Shot is still one of my favorite songs ever! Unfortunately, I can't find a great site to link the Demon Knight logo to [the one I had went down], I'll have to make a site myself sometime, stay tuned. ![]() can stop him from reaching his target. The only other movie killing machines as good that I can think of are probably John Matrix from Commando or John Lee from The Replacement Killers. Leon ends up helping out a little girl named Matilda. Her father [Michael Badalucco from The Practice] and the rest of her family were killed over drugs. She ends up staying with Leon, and it becomes hard to tell who the real adult is. Natalie Portman will amaze you with her fantastic acting in this movie. I really doubt anybody else her age could've done it half as well. Leon is a simple guy who keeps quiet and mostly just looks after his plant in between jobs. Having Matilda around really opens his eyes to life, and having![]() Leon to protect her has given Matilda a second chance. She still plots revenge on the crooked DEA Agent Stansfield [Gary Oldman from The Fifth Element and Lost in Space]. Oldman is one of the all time great bad guys in The Professional. He's smart, but really damn nuts. The international version of this movie is so much better. It has more insight into Leon's life and shows a lot more excellent violence! The three leads, Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman, all put in their best performance I've seen! Also great in their small parts are Danny Aiello [from The Stuff] and Michael Badalucco [from The Practice]. And I especially like how Stansfield is so nuts, his own guys are scared of him! There's lots of great character time, but still a ton of awesome action. Leon is so cool, he made me want to learn to be a cleaner too. There's no excuse not to see The Professional, it really kicks ass! The Professional logo links to a great fan site. Here are some other cool links:The Professional at the IMDB. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Natalie Portman was originally turned down for her role due to being too young, but she came back and gave such a brilliant performance that Luc Besson had to give her the role. During the filming involving all of the cop cars on the street, a man ran from a store he had just robbed. When he encountered the movie set by accident, he saw all of the "cops" and gave himself up to a bunch of uniformed extras. Leon - "The rifle is the first weapon you learn how to use, because it lets you keep your distance from the client. The closer you get to being a pro, the closer you can get to the client. The knife, for example, is the last thing you learn." |
