![]() take on the bloodthirsty fiends is my favorite. I never liked the wistful immortal moaning about the tedium of being a vamp [like Interview]. That's just not too cool to me. The vamps in this movie are beastly monsters who just want to pick their teeth with your bones. Plus, it's more than that. The movie's also about two ruthless killers escaping from the man while on a murder and mayhem road trip to Mexico. George Clooney [from ER and The Peacemaker] and Quentin Tarantino [director of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs] are great as the Gecko brothers. After losing [brutally murdering] the hostage they had, they need more to get across the border. They kidnap a father [Harvey Keitel from Reservoir Dogs and U-571] and his two children played by Ernest Liu, and Juliette Lewis [from Strange Days and Natural Born Killers]. ![]() They end up in The Titty Twister, a kickass bar in Mexico. Before the shit hits the fan the ultimately hot Salma Hayek [from The Faculty and Fled] puts on the hottest show I've ever seen!! Cheech Marin [from the Cheech and Chong movies], Danny Trejo [from The Replacement Killers, Con Air and the other Dusk Till Dawn movies], and famous movie makeup and effects guru Tom Savini [from the original Dawn of the Dead] are all great here. So if you like your vampires monstrous see this movie! The From Dusk Till Dawn logo links to a cool fan site with lots of content, including pics of Seth's tattoo. ![]() It's about Marty McFly [the great Michael J. Fox, from The Frighteners, Teen Wolf, Doc Hollywood, For Love or Money, Family Ties and Spin City], an 80's teenager with a crazy scientist friend. Crazy Doc Brown [Christopher Lloyd from Taxi, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Star Trek III] invents a time machine and builds it into a Delorean. Marty ends up in the past and messes up his parents meeting. Now he has to fix them up and find a way to get back home. Back To The Future is half comedy too, and it's a riot. I like part 2, but not part 3 [the old west sucks]. The original first movie is the absolute best though. I really love The Doc's crazy mind reading hat, Marty's skateboarding behind cars and the cool way they relate every little detail of 1955 to 1985. If you haven't seen Back To The Future, you're missing something really great! ![]() Also great in the movie are Lea Thompson [from Caroline in the City and Ed], the wacky Crispin Glover [from Willard] perfectly cast as George McFly, Thomas F. Wilson [from Ed] as the oafish Biff Tannen, the very hot Claudia Wells, James Tolkan [from War Games and Serpico] as the always bald Strickland, Billy Zane [from Demon Knight] as one of Biff's cronies, and even Jason Hervey [from The Wonder Years] as Marty's uncle as a kid. ![]() I usually don't recomment too many family movies, but The Wizard Of OZ is great no matter who you are. When I was a little kid I watched this movie every time it came on tv. It was even remastered and brought back to theatres a few years back. I went, and finally got to see these great characters towering over me like they're supposed to! My favorite thing about The Wizard Of OZ is all the great matte painting art in the background. The story's like a fairy tale, and like any great fairy tale there are some pretty dark parts. The costumes and colors in the movie really add to that classic movie feel. And if you can't find the movie playing in a theater, at least you make sure to watch it somewhere. I like to watch it every few years, and it's always great. Wizard Of OZ and Rocketman are really the only two movies on the ![]() site so far that are great for any age. Most of my other picks are horror and sci-fi, but how could I not have The Wizard Of OZ here! Most other entries recommend a lot of other movies the actors are in. I haven't really seen any of these cast members in anything else I'd recommend. There have been thousands of shows and movies that have references to or have completely ripped off this classic. Still, there's nothing like the original, so give it another look! The Wizard of OZ logo links to the great Official Site, it has lots of content. ![]() Once they reach the ship, there are a lot of nasty surprises waiting for the team. First of all, I love the techno-goth design of the Event Horizon! Plus, this movie has the best use of outer space as another element of fear. The cast is really fantastic too, including Laurence Fishburne [from The Matrix, Fled, Hoodlum and Nightmare On Elm St. 3], Sam Neill [from In The Mouth Of Madness, Bicentennial Man, Jurassic Park I & III, and Memoirs Of An Invisible Man], Kathleen Quinlan [from The Doors and Breakdown], Joely Richardson, Richard T. Jones [from Jury Duty and Kiss The Girls], Jack Noseworthy [from Idle Hands, U-571 and Undercover Brother], Jason Isaacs [from Soldier and Armageddon], and Sean Pertwee [from Soldier and Equilibrium]. What I really like about the story is it's more than "who gets killed next and how", it's a descent into madness [like Pet Sematary] and it's done very well.![]() Event Horizon was the last movie I saw in an old style big theater [before the multiplexes took over] and that opening scene almost gave me space sickness! This movie often gets a bad rap. Sure, there's nothing groundbreaking, but it's done very well for a by-the-numbers genre movie. Plus, there are some pretty creepy and gory Hellraiser-like stuff going on, plus lots of explosions and action. I definitely think Event Horizon deserves it's spot here on the site, give it a look if you get the chance! The Event Horizon logo links to a cool gallery of production stills. ![]() The movie is so well known that I don't worry about putting up a picture of the movie's ending. Hell, it was on The Simpsons, so everybody knows it anyway. The movie is about astronauts who leave earth on an exploration mission and crash land 2000 years later. The world is dominated by evolved apes, who treat the savage human population much like apes are treated now. There were many sequels made, and they were all pretty good except for "Battle For" which was really weak. I'd say "Escape From" is the second best one. It switched things around, having Cornelius and Zira landing in modern day [for the time] earth, and getting treated much like Taylor was treated. Still, this original is the best, and Tim Burton's big budget remake is weak in comparison.![]() Planet Of The Apes stars famous gun fanatic Charlton Heston [from Omega Man, Soylent Green and In The Mouth Of Madness] as Taylor, the sole [intact] surviving astronaut. He appeared in Beneath The Planet Of The Apes as a favor, but his part was minimal. The real star of the entire POTA series is Roddy McDowall [from Night Gallery, The Black Hole and Pirates of Dark Water], he appeared in most of the movies and even the pretty good tv show. The whole story is really a circle, with the events in the first movie causing things to happen in the past [in Escape From] causing this whole world to happen in the first place. Every sci-fi fan should see Planet Of The Apes at least once, if not the whole series. The Planet Of The Apes logo links to The Forbidden Zone, a great fan site.
