![]() You'll notice that I love a lot of movies. That's because I suspend my disbelief and try very hard not to pick a movie apart or figure it out. I watch a movie wanting to like it and being open to the storytelling. I was lucky enough to see The Sixth Sense without knowing too much about it, so the end hit me like a hammer! I still get a chill from the last part of the movie, even though I've seen it many times by now. I hate to even reveal that the movie has a twist, but that's common knowledge. M. Night Shyamalan really did a perfect job of making The Sixth Sense, though I'm not crazy about his other movies [Signs and The Village were especially terrible]. Haley Joel Osment [from Murphy Brown] stars as Cole Sear, a kid tormented by his ability to see into the spirit world. He gets some help from award winning child psychologist Malcolm Crowe, played brilliantly by Bruce Willis [from 12 Monkeys, Blind Date, the Die Hard movies, Pulp Fiction, Hostage and Sin City]. ![]() Also great in The Sixth Sense are Toni Collette [from Shaft and Changing Lanes] as Cole's mom, the very hot Olivia Williams as Malcolm's wife, and Donnie Wahlberg [from Ransom, Body Count and Dreamcatcher] in a small but very memorable role as one of Malcolm's ex-patients. The atmosphere of The Sixth Sense is really creepy, you really get a sense that that world is filled with spirits even when they're not shown on screen. If you haven't seen the movie yet, watch it with an open mind and let the movie tell it's story. And if you like The Sixth Sense, check out Stir of Echoes. It's another cool take on the same subject. ![]() So it's often compared or critiqued against that standard. But this is a very different movie, it's a sci-fi mystery not an action movie. If you have to compare it to something, I'd say it's more like eXistenZ than The Matrix. The story, tech and acting in The Thirteenth Floor are really great. When Hannon Fuller [Armin Mueller-Stahl from The Peacemaker and The Game], head of a virtual reality company is killed, it's up to his friend Douglas Hall [Craig Bierko from Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Paradise] to solve the mystery. The problem is everything leads to him as the killer. So he goes into the virtual reality world they built to find out the truth. The rest of the cast is really great too, including Gretchen Mol, Vincent D'Onofrio [from Strange Days, Men In Black, Impostor and Law & Order: CI], and Dennis Haysbert [from Now And Again, 24, Heat, Buck Rogers, The Outer Limits and Justice League among others]. ![]() I like how they really differentiate the different realities from each other and they all have a huge amount of atmosphere. And even though it's not hardcore scifi all the way, there's more than enough for scifi fans like myself. Like I said, timing hurt this movie and it would've done better with an earlier or later release. If you're a scifi fan at all, give The Thirteenth Floor a look. It's definitely right up there with the best virtual reality movies. The Thirteenth Floor logo links to a cool fan site for the movie, here are some other cool links for the movie:

![]() That's why I'm an anarchist and believe we'd be better off if government as we know it was dismantled. For the most part, these powerful and evil forces do their own thing without taking notice of individual citizens. And we're all better off unnoticed. Enemy of the State is about exactly that. It's right up there with such great paranoia movies as Conspiracy Theory, Disturbing Behavior and They Live. It stars Will Smith [from I, Robot, Men In Black and Independence Day] as Robert Clayton Dean, a lawyer who suddenly comes into the sights of the establishment, Illuminatti, or whatever you want to call them. And he learns first hand just how great it was when they didn't know who he was. An NSA official [John Voigt from National Treasure, U-Turn, Heat and Mission Impossible] murders a politician and Robert Dean ends up with the evidence. "They" immediately ruin his credit, publicly discredit him and trace his every movement with surveillance gear and satellites. He becomes the rat in their maze, and at first he doesn't even know what's going on. He survives with help from an ex agent named Brill [Gene Hackman from The Firm, The Package and Bonnie and Clyde]. Also cool in the movie are Lisa Bonet, Regina King, Barry Pepper [from Saving Private Ryan], ![]() Jake Busey [from Starship Troopers, Contact, The Frighteners, Fastlane and Jeremiah], Scott Caan [from Gone in 60 Seconds], Jason Lee [from Mallrats, Dreamcatcher and My Name Is Earl], Gabriel Byrne [from The Usual Suspects], James LeGros [from Phantasm II and Point Break], Jack Black [from School of Rock and High Fidelity], Jamie Kennedy [from Bait, Bowfinger and Scream], Seth Green [from Idle Hands, Stephen King's IT, Greg The Bunny, Family Guy and Buffy], and Tom Sizemore [from Strange Days, Saving Private Ryan, Dreamcatcher, Point Break, Heat and Natural Born Killers]. Enemy of the state is a great example that it's better to be under their radar if at all possible. The Enemy of the State logo links to a cool hi-res picture gallery. ![]() You love one and hate the other. I worship DC and can't stand the marvel universe. But Warner Bros. [who own DC] aren't making all the great comic book movies they should be. And I have to admit that a few of marvel's many movies are actually good. Blade 2 is actually really great. For me to add a marvel movie here it has to be. I like that it doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of marvel's junk, and that it's a cool vampire movie. The first and third ones aren't as good, but Blade 2 is really cool. Blade [Wesley Snipes from Demolition Man, One Night Stand and U.S. Marshals] is a half-vampire who walks in the sun without harm and hunts down bloodsuckers. Well, now there's a new more vicious race of vampires called Reapers. Their whole faces open up when they feed and their prey is vampires. Blade ends up teaming up with the most elite vampire assassins to stop the reapers from spreading their condition across the globe. The film has a ton of great action, a horde of vicious and bloodthirsty bad guys and lots of gory vampire horror! ![]() Also great in the movie are Kris Kristofferson as Blade's resurrected sidekick Whistler, Ron Perlman [from Alien Resurrection, Hellboy and Beauty and the Beast], the super hot Leonor Varela as Nyssa and Luke Goss [from The Man] as the first reaper Nomak. I really think that the problem with Blade 3 was that they just couldn't top the coolness of the reapers from Blade 2. The reapers are as horrific and gory as bad guys get. For a DC fan for life to recommend a movie by the other side, you know it's something really cool! If you like your vampires gory and vicious, see Blade 2! ![]() series, but I like the movie a lot. It's about the crew of a ship in the eye of a hurricane, finding a high tech russian ship dead in the water. It turns out that an electrical life form from space has taken over the ship's electronics and robotics. Once they wake it up, a lot of gory mechanical mayhem is unleashed! The cast includes the great Donald Sutherland [from Bodysnatchers '78, Lock Up, Backdraft, The Puppet Masters, The Assignment and Fallen], Jamie Lee Curtis [from Halloween, Trading Places and True Lies], one of my favorite character actors Marshall Bell [from Freddy's Revenge, Total Recall, Natural Born Killers, The Puppet Masters and Truth or Consequences N.M.], William Baldwin [from Flatliners and Backdraft], Joanna Pacula, Sherman Augustus, Cliff Curtis and Julio Oscar Mechoso [from Blue Streak and The Handler]. If you're a horror ![]() fan you won't be shocked by the plot or anything. But it's gory with lots of action and a good cast. It's definitely one of the best comic to movie adaptations I've seen. As a matter of fact I've seen this one a few times and it's still cool. Plus I've never seen anything with Donald Sutherland in it that wasn't cool. I love how the creature turns everything into cool zombie cyborg hybrids made of whatever flesh and technology it finds. Oh, and if you like Virus, give The Astronaut's Wife a look. It's cool and it's similar to the situation in virus. The Virus logo links to the Official Virus Site. I'm surprised it's still up, good for you Universal.
