The first 3 Prophecy movies are fantastic, especially the very cool original! It's about a war between two   groups of angels over humans taking their place. I'm against religion, but it's used almost like sci-fi here and it's not preachy, just cool. The standout star is Christopher Walken [from The Dead Zone, Blast from the Past and Sleepy Hollow] as the archangel Gabriel, god's deadly enforcer and leader of the anti-human faction. To me, Gabriel is Walken's best role ever. The whole cast is very well chosen and includes Elias Koteas [also excellent in Fallen], Virginia Madsen [from Candyman and Sideways], Eric Stoltz [from The Fly II, Pulp Fiction and The Butterfly Effect], Viggo Mortensen [from G.I. Jane and the Lord of the Rings trilogy] as Satan, Steve Hytner [from Working and Seinfeld] as the coroner in all three Prophecy movies, and Adam Goldberg [from Saving Private Ryan, Entourage and Chandler's roommate Eddie from Friends]. I   think it's awesome to see a movie with the devil in it and he's not even the villain! Very cool and original. I don't believe in any of this stuff for real, but this movie definitely gives you a new perspective on the whole image of what an angel is supposed to be. And I love how Gabriel calls people back from the brink of death to drive his car and do stuff for him. The writing is just so great, from the angels and their powers to why they're on earth and what they have planned. Don't pass The Prophecy by, and if you love the first one like I do, you'll love 2 and 3! [They made 4 and 5 but there's no Gabriel, so I haven't bothered watching them yet] The Prophecy logo links to a picture gallery I put together. The Return of the Living Dead movies have my absolute favorite zombies in them. Some are shambler [ish], like Romero's movies, but the cool part is they're after brains, plus those   movies are newer so the zombie effects are better. I don't even like part 3 as a movie, but the zombies in it are cool. The first one in the series stars James Karen [from Poltergeist and The Practice] as Frank, Thom Mathews [from Jason Lives] as Freddy, who are also in the great sequel. Plus there's Don Calfa [also in Weekend At Bernie's] who's great as the mortician and my favorite character in this movie, Miguel Nunez [from Tour Of Duty], and Linnea Quigley [from Pumpkinhead 2 and The Prophecy 3] among others. Frank and Freddy work at a medical supply warehouse and disturb cannisters that supposedly contain the real zombies that inspired Night of the Living Dead. Well, the cannisters end up breaking,   releasing that cool Return Of The Living Dead Trioxin Gas! First just inside the warehouse, then into the nearby Resurrection Cemetery. The rain soaks the gas into the ground and sets the scene for some awesome zombie mayhem! Some of the coolest zombie scenes are in this movie too, like the classic ambush of the ambulance [and a call on the radio for more paramedics!], and the great interview with a zombie torso! This movie has a lot of humor, but still manages to have a great horror atmosphere. The sequel is really just a remake with more humor, but that rules too! The second one was featured on this page on the old site, but I'll add it to the new page that's in the works. Pumpkinhead is the classic 80's horror movie! If you're a fan of 80's style horror [and I know I am!], you'll love this! It stars   cult movie legend Lance Henriksen [from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Terminator, Near Dark, and three Alien movies including the cool Alien Vs. Predator] as simple backwoods guy Ed Harley. Well, when some crazy teens pass through and accidentally run over and kill his boy it's payback time. The area has a legend about a monster named Pumpkinhead who will wreak vengeance if he's summoned by somebody desperate enough. Of course old Ed Harley's grief drives him crazy and he wants revenge. He tracks down the oldest, creepiest woman ever in any movie and she sends him on a mission. He has to go to an old abandoned cemetery way back   in the woods where relatives bury people they're ashamed of. It's in a pumpkin patch, and the grave he's looking for is way above the others. It's the creepiest spot I've ever seen [maybe tied with the raft on the swamp in the Crystal Lake stage of Blood]. Anyway, then Pumpkinhead hunts the kids and there's a lot of cool mayhem that happens after that! Trust me, Pumpkinhead rules! Unfortunately, the DVD for Pumpkinhead is crappy pan&scan butcher job only. We definitely need an original full widescreen DVD! The sequel's nowhere near as good but watchable once if you like this one.       Stan Winston turned down directing Nightmare On Elm Street 3 to direct Pumpkinhead. At Stan Winston's request, the writers made Pumpkinhead and Haggis much darker than in the original script. |

There's no other movie that can match the perfect mix of stoners, horror and comedy that Idle Hands has. It's a very unique movie, and I really love it! Devon Sawa [from Final Destination] plays Anton Tobias, one of the laziest stoners in the world.  Well, around Halloween an evil spirit on the run takes over Anton's hand. Then he's on a huge mission to control his evil hand, and later stop it's plans. It's a silly premise, but it's done so perfectly here. Seth Green [from Stephen King's IT, Enemy Of The State, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Greg The Bunny, Family Guy and Robot Chicken] and Elden Henson [from The Butterfly Effect] are great as Anton's stoner cronies Mick and Pnub. Plus, Molly the hot neighbour girl Anton drools over is played by the super hot Jessica Alba [from Sin City, Into The Blue, Fantastic Four and Dark Angel]. Also cool in Idle Hands are Vivica A. Fox [from Independence Day and Ella Enchanted], Jack Noseworthy [from Event Horizon, U-571, Undercover Brother and The Outer Limits] and Fred Willard [from The Tonight Show].   The movie has lots of Marijuana based antics [The Devil's Harvest poster below is on the wall in Pnub's basement], and the guys even trick anton into smoking household spices, it's a riot! And the horror end of things is cool too, the gore and awesome make-up and special effects kick ass! Idle Hands is a fantastic twist on the old stoner movie genre. It's as if the guys from Half Baked crossed over into Demon Knight or something. I love Idle Hands and really can't believe it wasn't a bigger hit when it came out. Unfortunately, the DVD is crappy pan & scan only. That's bullshit, we need a good widescreen release now [smarten up studios]. Anyway, It's a perfect movie to watch on Halloween!! Ghostbusters is one of the best horror comedies ever! Just in case you've never seen it, it's about a group of crazy scientists who invent some gear and   go into the ghost extermination business. It stars the hilarious Bill Murray [from Saturday Night Live, Caddyshack, Stripes, Larger Than Life, The Man Who Knew Too Little, What About Bob, and Groundhog Day], noted real life fan of the paranormal Dan Aykroyd [from Doctor Detroit, Spies Like Us, and Chaplin], Harold Ramis [from Heavy Metal], Ernie Hudson [from The Crow and OZ], Rick Moranis [Bob McKenzie on SCTV and Strange Brew, Spaceballs, Honey I Shrunk The Kids], Sigourney Weaver [from the Alien series and Galaxy Quest] and Annie Potts [from Toy Story]. So once the ghostbusting business starts picking up, the guys discover that the end of the world is   coming and try to stop it. The effects in Ghostbusters are fantastic and the ghosts and creatures in the movie are awesome. My favorite character in the movie is Louis Tully [Rick Moranis], that guy's a riot! I read that Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the movie in a weekend at a cabin. The sequel was good too, and The Real Ghostbusters cartoon was even cool, though they made some changes.
