![]() I saw this movie, it scared me to death!! That's no easy feat, and alone that should be reason enough to check it out. Plus there are some really creepy things in the movie that'll stick with you long after you watch it. It's about the awakening of a slumbering evil, the Catholic Church's biggest secret. And now it's up to a Priest [the great Donald Pleasence of course, also great in Escape from New York, and the Halloween series among many others], along with a Science Professor [Victor Wong from Tremors and Big Trouble In Little China] and his class to decypher what exactly is changing the world and how to stop it!! It's an epic horror about the end of everything, with religious and sci-fi aspects and it even has some zombie activities going on. I love the dream that might be a broadcast from another time, the ultra cool evil container the evil is sealed up in and the classic scene where Alice Cooper kills a guy with part of an old bike! Sure, there are a lot of gory and horrific things going on, but it's really based on some deep sci-fi stuff. It's a thinking man's horror movie. The cast is perfect for the film, including the already mentioned Donald Pleasence,![]() Victor Wong and Alice Cooper as leader of the homeless zombies. Plus there's Jameson Parker [from Simon & Simon], Lisa Blount, Dennis Dun [from Big Trouble in Little China], Susan Blanchard, Dirk Blocker, Robert Grasmere, the very hot Anne Marie Howard, Ann Yen, Jessie Lawrence Ferguson [from Darkman, Buck Rogers and Star Trek: TNG], and John Carpenter favorite Peter Jason [from They Live, Brewster's Millions, 48 Hours, In The Mouth Of Madness, Village Of The Damned and Titus]. Some crazy people don't like this movie, but I say give it another look, I really love how the horror mixes with sci-fi and religion in such an interesting way. And if you're looking for other excellent John Carpenter movies, check out They Live, Halloween, Vampires, and The Thing. Links for this great film are pretty scarce. ![]() it's still great every time! I even got my online nickname Creed from the family's name in this book. It's about Louis Creed [Dale Midkiff also from Time Trax], who just moved into a new house and a new job in Maine. Well, when the highway claims his family cat he begins to get drawn into the web of evil that spreads throughout the area. An abandoned indian burial ground brings his cat back to him, but not quite the same. Can Louis avoid the mechanations of the evil force, or will he lose his sanity along with everything else that he treasures? Watch the movie and see for yourself!! I remember watching this in the theater, it was a blast. And as a die hard fan of the great book, I love the movie despite the few small differences and a cast that looks questionable first but really ends up great. Speaking of the cast, I especially liked Fred Gwynne [Herman Munster!] as Jud Crandall, he was a fantastic actor and nailed the part perfectly. Also cool are Brad Greenquist [from Golden Years, Harsh Realm, The Practice, Alias, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek Voyager, Star Trek DS9, Enterprise, ER and Sleeper Cell]![]() as the ghostly Victor Pascow, and Miko Hughes [from Wes Craven's New Nightmare] is also pretty creepy as the evil little Gage Creed. Blaze Berdahl is good as Ellie, but I'm not crazy about Denise Crosby [Tasha Yar from Star Trek: TNG] as Rachel, I'm not really a fan of her work. Also keep an eye out for Stephen King himself as a minister in one scene. Pet Sematary is done in the classic 80's style of horror and has some very creepy scenes, plus a good amount of gore. If you like Firestarter, IT and The Stand, you should love Pet Sematary. There's a very crappy sequel that Stephen King had nothing to do with, avoid it like the indian burial ground...it's sour. Plus, I hear some idiot is trying to get a remake done. Come on, it's still great and doesn't need to be touched. ![]() about a brother [Justin Long from ED] and sister [Gina Philips from Boston Public, Star Trek: DS9, Dark Skies, Seven Days and Hawaii] passing through the middle of nowhere. They first encounter the coolest, creepiest truck I've ever seen [I want one!]. Then they witness weird, evil goings on and get dragged into the web of a real nasty killing spree. I don't want to give too much away, you'll enjoy it more if you just let the movie tell you the story! This one is a true horror classic, and instantly one of my all time favorites. Even though there are effects, this movie doesn't have to use them to make the movie cool. It's just so well written! I especially liked the classic use of the psychic with dire warnings [one of my favorite horror staples]. The mood and atmosphere created in Jeepers Creepers is just so great, I'd love to play a gory first person shooter based on the movie. The movie is mostly just Trish and Darry, but there are some other cool cast members too. Like Jonathan Breck [from Star Trek Voyager] as The Creeper himself, and Patricia Belcher [from Flatliners, Players,![]() The Practice, Still Standing and My Name Is Earl] as the psychic. I like that through a lot of the movie you don't really know who or what The Creeper is, or why he's on his gory spree. The extras on the DVD are great, but I was very disappointed that The Creeper's great truck isn't a model I can buy, it's custom made for the movie. Sorry I can't say the sequel stands up as well, so don't expect much there. Anyway, if you haven't seen this fantastic horror movie yet, you have to! Jeepers Creepers will give you a case of the Heebee Jeebees! ![]() If you like your zombies shambling and on a gory feeding spree, then you'll love this movie! It's really such a classic, every horror fan needs to see it! This movie has the best examples I've seen of zombies rising from the grave, and I really like that most of them are really old and rotten. Zombie is famous for a scene where a zombie skewers a woman's eye on a sharp piece of wood, and a scene where a zombie faces off with a shark [yes, I said shark!]. The movie starts in New York harbour, with the authorities boarding and searching a drifting boat. They're attacked by a particularly nasty member of the shambling dead, and the zombie coolness goes on from there! Most of the action is set on the island the boat came from, and for a movie of it's time, the effects are amazing! A great zombie movie has to have a cast that I don't recognize so I never know who will be eaten next. The cast here is cool, including Tisa Farrow, Ian McCulloch, Richard Johnson, Al Cliver, Auretta Gay, Stefania D'Amario and the very hot Olga Karlatos. I love the scene where the group walks into a room to find a horde of zombies devouring a bloody half eaten corpse,![]() the scene with the zombie's head getting smashed open with a grave marker, and the great creepy camera work that builds great suspense. Zombie also has my all time favorite zombie movie ending too! I just recently picked up the new remastered DVD [the one from Blue Underground, because I heard better things about it than the 2-disc anniversary edition], and it's one of my favorite DVDs in my collection. The packaging is great, and the zombie with the worms coming out of his eye is the coolest DVD menu I've seen. Plus there are a lot of cool trailers for other Fulci movies [some cool, some not so]. The picture quality is amazing too! If you like Italian horror, then don't miss The Last Man On Earth, another great Zombie flick! The Zombie logo links to an excellent site with tons on info, sounds and even video clips from Fulci's Zombie! Here are some other cool Zombie links:Zombie at the Internet Movie Database. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Zombie was written before George Romero's Dawn of the Dead was released in Italy, as a thriller with no link to George Romero's films. The opening and closing scenes [in New York] were added later when the producers wanted to cash-in on the success of Dawn. Zombie was also released under the names Zombi 2 and Zombie Flesh Eaters The cast was half English-speaking and half Italian-speaking. So neither the English or Italian versions are dubbed 100% in sync. |

![]() It's about a guy who ends up on the road with a vampire hunter. Vampirism is a virus that connects the infected to the master vampire. This is a really great vampire/hunter combo movie, with both sides of the story well covered. I was really impressed with the story and acting in this movie. It has huge similarities to another excellent Vampire flick, Near Dark. Both are about a desert encounter with a pack of vicious roving vamps. Plus, both give vampirism a medical explanation, and the tone of both are pretty much identical. That's not a bad thing though, check them both out if you get the chance! As a matter of fact, they could've gotten away with calling this Near Dark II if they wanted. The cast is great, including Kerr Smith [from Final Destination and The Outer Limits], Brendan Fehr [from Final Destination, Disturbing Behavior, Roswell and CSI Miami], Izabella Miko,![]() Johnathon Schaech [from The Outer Limits], Phina Oruche [from Players, The Pretender and Buffy The Vampire Slayer], Simon Rex, Alexis Thorpe, A.J. Buckley [from Disturbing Behavior, Convergence, Millennium, The X-Files and CSI] and Carrie Snodgress [from Quincy, The X-Files and ER]. I especially love the scene where the guy gets the heart ripped right out of his chest, and how the vamps use a driver and hide in the trunk during the day. I'm glad it wasn't just one of those teen vamp slashers, it's actually a really cool movie that just happens to star some of that kind of cast. The Forsaken is still the newest vampire movie that I saw that was good, there's a lot of junk out there lately. Definitely give The Forsaken a look!
