The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day were both excellent movies, but I like Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines best of all! Where the first two movies were concentrated on Sarah and John Connor, T3 widens the scope a bit more.  Sure, John Connor is very important to the human resistance, but this movie shows us there's a lot more to Judgment Day and its aftermath than just the Connor family. I like how at the start the T-X isn't even after John Connor, but his future generals. And while we're talking about the T-X [played by the super hot Kristanna Loken from BloodRayne and Dungeon Siege], she's the coolest and toughest Terminator so far! She also shows that the whole Terminator franchise doesn't have to be centered around Schwarzenegger's T-100. I'd love to see a T-X model fighting two or three T-100's. It was great to have Arnold Schwarzenegger [from great movies like Commando, Total Recall, The 6th Day and others] back for this movie, but he doesn't have to do more than a cameo in the next one for it to still be cool [that's good because unfortunately Arnold's pushing the Republican's evil agenda now instead of making movies].  I also love the fact that John Connor has been recast with a much better actor [Nick Stahl from Disturbing Behavior and Sin City]. And since Linda Hamilton decided not to come back, Kate [Claire Danes from U-Turn and The Mod Squad] is a fantastic substitute! Not to mention all the fantastic action scenes, like the great high speed chase with the crane and Arnold shooting his way out of a cemetery with a coffin on his shoulder just to mention a couple! Terminator 3 has really brought new life into an awesome franchise that I didn't think could get any better! Groundhog is yet another hilarious Bill Murray comedy. It's the story of a weather man named Phil Connors [Bill Murray from Ghostbusters, The Man Who Knew Too Little, Stripes,  Caddyshack, Larger Than Life, What About Bob?, Scrooged and others] who keeps living the same day over and over again. It just happens to be the day he's covering Punxsutawney Phil's annual prediction of spring. The first few times he's in denial, but then he goes through other stages. After what appears to be thousands of loops, he even gets suicidal and kills himself in many funny ways only to wake up on Groundhog Day and start all over. After that he develops a god complex and starts to memorize the smallest details of the town he's trapped in. The movie's definitely a comedy classic! I like how Phil's pretty much a jerk and his cosmic looping eventually wears that down, making him a better person. One of my favorite episodes of Stargate SG-1 has the same time looping premise, and even mentions this movie. The rest of the cast is cool too, including Andie MacDowell [from Multiplicity], Chris Elliott [who I usually can't stand, but he's great here], Stephen Tobolowsky [Sammy Jankis from Memento among other things],  Bill Murray's real brother Brian Doyle-Murray [from Caddyshack, JFK, Jury Duty and Multiplicity] and Rick Ducommun [from Die Hard, The Burbs, Encino Man, Last Action Hero and Max Headroom]. Groundhog Day is the kind of movie that'll make you laugh, and still make you realize we only get one life and to enjoy it while you've got it. I especially love how he uses his time loop to pick up a girl by learning everything about her, the many funny suicides, and his hilarious and perfectly timed armoured car robbery. Pitch Black is the perfect combination of action and sci-fi! Plus, it introduces to one of the coolest anti-heroes in movie history!  It's about a starship that's transporting hardened criminal and Intergalactic badass Richard B. Riddick [Vin Diesel from The Chronicles of Riddick, Saving Private Ryan, Boiler Room, XXX and The Fast and The Furious]. Riddick's so hardcore that he's had his eyes enhanced so he can see perfectly in the darkest depths of whatever prison he's in. He's a cold blooded killer with no remorse and an overdeveloped survival instinct. The ship crashes on a planet with a secret. When an eclipse happens and throws the place into total darkness, the planet is swarmed by carnivorous aliens who can only exist in pure darkness. This is when Riddick changes from their biggest problem to their only hope. Pitch Black came out of nowhere to become a huge hit. Made for a very small budget and shot in Australia, it's a true sci-fi classic!  Also great in the movie are Claudia Black [from Farscape and Stargate SG-1], Radha Mitchell [from Phone Booth and Silent Hill], Cole Hauser [from 2 Fast 2 Furious and Paparazzi], Keith David [from They Live, The Thing, Requiem For A Dream, The Puppet Masters, Armageddon, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Transporter 2 and Gargoyles] and Rhiana Griffith. I love the intense scene where the ship crashes, and the scene where Riddick stares down one of the alien monsters! If you're a Vin Diesel fan or just like a lot of action mixed into your sci-fi, you have to see Pitch Black! The sequel was not as good as the original, but still really good. Number 5 is alive! Short Circuit is a great 80's comedy about a robot who comes to life! The military has a program called S.A.I.N.T., which is a group of highly powerful military robots.  When lightning strikes a charger that Number 5 is hooked up to, the fun begins. Number 5 sets out on his own in search of "more input" and becomes more and more his own person as he learns. The creator of the robots, Newton Crosby [Steve Guttenberg from the Police Academy and Cocoon movies], and his technition Ben Jabituya [Fisher Stevens from Hackers and Early Edition] set out to get their malfunctioning robot back. While on the loose, Number 5 makes friends with an animal lover named Stephanie [Ally Sheedy from WarGames]. Once they learn that the government wants to disassemble him, Number 5 and Stephanie try to stay one step ahead of them with hilarious results. Number 5 eventually outsmarts them and takes on the name Johnny 5.  He's sort of like a robot version of E.T. with Alf's personality. The rest of the cast is cool too, including Austin Pendleton [from My Cousin Vinny, Trial & Error, Homicide: Life On The Street and OZ], G.W. Bailey [from the Police Academy movies and M.A.S.H.]. I love the scene where Number 5 takes the car apart in like 30 seconds, and the ton of funny one-liners from Ben and Number 5. The sequel is great too, I wish they made more. What's really great about Short Circuit is that even though Number 5 is a little silly, it's not just a kids movie. Hellboy is definitely one of the best superhero movies you're going to find. I've never read any of the comics [I really really hate creator Mike Mignola's art],  but seeing this movie makes me wish someone good drew the comics so I could read them. The movie starts off with a secret nazi paranormal division trying to bring a hellish creature forth to our world. An elite allied team defeats them, but not before a small bright red creature is brought through the portal. He's given the name Hellboy and adopted by one of the scientists. In the present day, Hellboy [Ron Perlman from Alien Resurrection, Blade II, Beauty and the Beast, The Outer Limits and Justice League] is part of a hero team, along with an aquatic telepath named Abe Sapien [Doug Jones] and sometimes a pyrokinetic named Liz [Selma Blair from Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde]. The team acts in secret, even using a modified garbage truck to cover their movements. Hellboy is quite a character, smoking,  breaking things and always trying to get loose from the secret base [reminding me of Frank Parker from 7 Days]. Once the nazis make another stab at bringing the end of the world, it's up to Hellboy and his team to save the world. This movie has a lot of great action, and the makeup and special effects are excellent! Also great in the cast are John Hurt [from Alien, King Ralph, Contact and Jim Henson's Storyteller], Rupert Evans, Karel Roden [from Blade II] and Jeffrey Tambor [from The Prophecy, Max Headroom and Hill Street Blues].
